Placeholder variables

Manage reusable placeholder values used to fill in form and checkout test fields.

Placeholder variables are reusable test values you define once in account settings. Test flows can insert them into form and checkout fields so you do not hardcode the same data in every flow.

Key functions

Manage entries

  • Open Settings and select the Placeholders tab.
  • Each entry is a single text value (for example a name, email, or address).
  • Add row — create a new placeholder (up to 20 entries).
  • Edit any row inline, or remove it with the delete button.
  • Save — applies your changes; the button is enabled only when you have unsaved edits.

How tests use them

  • Placeholders are available when configuring test flows (for example in the add-website wizard and test flow settings).
  • Focus a field, then pick a placeholder to insert that value.
  • Entries containing @ are suggested for email fields; other entries match text fields.

Typical values

  • Customer name
  • Street address, city, postal code, country
  • Email address
  • Phone number
  • Other recurring checkout or form data

Tips

  • Keep one consistent set of test data so runs stay comparable across flows.
  • Use realistic but clearly fake values (avoid real customer data).
  • Remove empty rows before saving — blank entries are not stored.
